Imperial Citadel – Minh Mang’s tomb – Tu Duc’s tomb – Khai Dinh’s Tomb – Thien Mu Pagoda
Depart from your hotel to the Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. Continue to the Hue Royal Fine Art Museum which displays a variety of antique objects from the former Royal Palaces.
Continue to the mausoleum of the former emperor Minh Mang which is located in a tranquil setting of gardens and ponds then depart for lunch to enjoy renowned Hue cuisine.
Following, visit the Mausoleum of Tu Duc. Built decades before its occupant’s death, the mausoleum was used as Tu Duc’s retreat venue before becoming the emperors final resting place. Next, visit Khai Dinh’s Tomb, which is traditional Vietnamese in design with a European touch making it unique from the other tombs in Hue.
Continue to visit Thien Mu Pagoda overlooking the Perfume River. Constructed in 1601 the 21-meter tall tower is the centerpiece of the pagoda and represents seven reincarnations of Buddha.
Finish up the day by taking a leisurely boat trip on the romantically named Perfume River before heading back to your hotel.
