The Imperial Citadel – Hue Royal Fine Art Museum – Tu Duc’s Mausoleum – Tu Hieu Pagoda
Itinerary
Your first visit will be to The Imperial Citadel where the Nguyen Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. After exploring the ruins of this wonderful monument, continue to Hue Royal Fine Art Museum, which displays a variety of objects from the former royal Palaces. Continue to the Mausoleum of Tu Duc. Built decades before its occupant’s death, the mausoleum was used as Tu Duc’s retreat venue before becoming the Emperor’s final resting place.
Before heading back to your hotel, take time to stroll around the beautiful Tu Hieu pagoda, which dates back to 1843. Located in a forest of pine trees, this monastery was once the home of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. What most interesting at the pagoda are the eunuch tombs from the former Nguyen Dynasty, which in the whole city of Hue are only found here.
